Latest News HIGH SHERIFF AWARD You may not be aware of the existence of the High Sheriff of South Glamorgan, but their work is vitally important. The post of High Sheriff dates back to Anglo-Saxon times, and today involves providing support to a variety of sectors within their local communities. The High Sheriff of a constituency will support numerous different organisations within that constituency, including the emergency services and voluntary groups. In her role as High Sheriff of South Glamorgan, Rosie Moriarty-Simmons did this by presenting Oasis with a High Sheriff’s award certificate. This certificate serves as recognition of Oasis’ work with the refugee population of Cardiff. We are very grateful to be recognised in this way: earning recognition like this adds to positive public perception of our work, which is vitally important to a charity like ours. In a time of increasing animosity towards refugees and migrants, positive public perception will help ensure we can continue offering a warm Welsh welcome to any and all refugees in Cardiff.
