As a volunteer, we hope you will feel valued and know that your work is making a significant contribution at Oasis. As an important part of the team, you will be playing a key role in making sure people seeking sanctuary are shown a warm Welsh welcome when they come to Oasis. When you join our diverse team you will not only meet new people and explore different cultures, you’re encouraged to utilise your skills and passions, as well as learning something new! Volunteering helps give a sense of purpose as you join our dynamic community, which can improve mental health and wellbeing. You can add your volunteering experience to your CV, and receive plenty of opportunities for training and personal growth. In 2023 we completed the Quality Assurance process and have been added to the list of Investing in Volunteers achievers. This means that we're able to offer all of our volunteers a meaningful experience when they come to Oasis! Most importantly we hope our volunteers have fun! Volunteer roles We have a wide variety of weekly activities at our centre, and trips around Cardiff and beyond. These could not continue to run without the support of volunteers. We have opportunities to share your skills across art and craft, sports, music, and much more. If you love teaching, then ESOL classes may be for you. Maybe you enjoy indulging in a bit of self-care and sharing health and beauty tips? If so, join the weekly women’s health and beauty project – a great opportunity to meet women from different cultures and learn how they empower one another. If customer service and hospitality is your thing, we have roles in Reception and on our catering team. Integration is key to Oasis’ work, and we need enthusiastic volunteers to help take people out and about on trips around Cardiff. If you would love to volunteer but cannot commit your time regularly, we have options with one-off events, parties and fundraising events. Volunteers are expected to embrace the Oasis ethos. Mutual respect across the team ensures that support and guidance are shared with everyone. We expect our team members to be diligent, working to high standards to achieve positive outcomes.
