A big warm Oasis welcome to our new staff members Amy, Valentine and Zakarya these guys are starting a new project called Mind Our Future which is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.

We will be working in partnership with TGP Cymru andCardiff and Vale Health Inclusion Service and together we hope to empower young people and bring impactful change to systems involving the mental health and well-being of asylum seekers and refugees. Oasis Cardiff will lead this project, and together the partnership will pool our resources, skills and experience working in the sector.

The key to this project is co-production and ensuring young people are at the heart of the decision-making process. By facilitating a young person-led steering group, and advocacy groups, the project's critical aim is to engage young people to find solutions and make their voices heard.

This project will focus on building resilience in young people and providing opportunities for community and personal growth. Young people need to be given a platform to openly express their concerns and issues easily. Our hope is that this would lead to increased emotional resilience in young people, as they pursue avenues of specialist support and are given access to increased opportunities, which would benefit their well-being.

The project will have a mental health worker who will enable young people to access to psychoeducation as part of this project and the aim is that young people will be empowered to influence policy and systems in partner Statutory Sector Organisations.

So watch this space as we start developing this project and putting it into practice within the next few months!
