Latest News OASIS AT GREEN MAN 2022 Our street food trailer, Global Eats, visited Green Man again this year! We took 22 stewards along and had a great time selling falafel, mezze boxes, and baleada (a Honduran wrap with mashed fried beans and various other fillings). Our stewards were a mix of Oasis staff and some of our clients, which helped demonstrate the importance of our mission to give all refugees a warm Welsh welcome. We also really enjoyed selling our t-shirts to festival-goers and talking to them about our goals. Performer Carwyn Ellis, whom we’ve worked with in the past, dedicated a song to us, which was an incredibly special moment and a lovely gesture from one of our favourite musicians. There was also a surprise visit from some politicians, who were actually protesters in costume, arguing against recent government policies like the Rwanda deportations. We were very grateful to have their help in showing festival-goers the necessity of providing migrants with a warm welcome instead of a hostile environment. We even had help from a keen young Rubiks Cube enthusiast, who entertained our stewards and customers by solving the fiendish puzzle in less than a minute. Not only was the Global Eats trailer a great way of raising funds, but through selling our food and t-shirts, and thereby talking to festival-goers, we were able to spread our message of a warm Welsh welcome for refugees to many new supporters.
