Oasis is incredibly sad to announce the closure of our much-loved food trailer catering service. This catering offering has been a popular feature at our premises in Cardiff and at events and festivals throughout Wales. Unfortunately, due to financial pressures, we have made the difficult decision to close the project.

The launch and running costs of the catering trailer service were initially supported by external funding for five years. Since that funding ceased at the end of 2023, Oasis has been working hard to try and run the service at a surplus. However, lower turnover than expected in 2024, then a quiet winter, followed by the theft of the trailer at the start of the 2025 spring season, have led to significant operational losses.

CEO Susie Ventris-Field said: “We are deeply disappointed to have to close the catering trailer service. It has been a very difficult time for charities including Oasis, and we don’t currently have the resources to make the investment in the catering trailer service that would be required to recover from the theft, given the losses we have already incurred.”

The trailer, which was stolen in April, was recovered by police and returned to Oasis in late May. Ms Ventris-Field said “Despite the unfortunate need to close the service, we are pleased the vehicle has been recovered and there is a reasonable chance that those guilty of the theft will be caught. We would like to say a huge thank you for the outpouring of support and donations we received when the trailer was stolen. The police have told us it wouldn’t have been recovered without this coverage on social media.”

We know many people who support us will be disappointed by this decision to close the service, but we hope to be able to secure funding in the future so this isn’t the last our community will see of us!

Despite this sad news, we will still be able to provide catering for day time room bookings at Oasis. This will be our normal lunch provision at £5 +VAT per person and can be booked as part of the room hire process.
