Our charity attracts volunteers from all around Cardiff; people who have lived here all their lives and people who are newly arrived. If you are over 18, living in or near the city, including asylum seekers dispersed to Cardiff can apply to volunteer.

Please fill in an application form - this should be completed fully and clearly, we cannot process it if we can't read it or it is incomplete.

  • We will acknowledge receipt of your application within 5 working days.
  • 2 character references must be received before volunteering can commence. Referees will be contacted within 10 working days.
  • Informal chat - to gauge the best role for each individual.
  • Induction Training before commencing volunteering covers:
    • The story of Oasis
    • About Volunteering
    • Policies and procedures
    • Health and safety.
  • DBS (background) check – depending on the role.
  • Catering volunteers will receive Kitchen Induction Training prior to volunteering.
  • Volunteers are allocated a buddy and a date is set for a trial session. A start date is agreed by both parties.
  • Further training specific to the area e.g., food hygiene, ESOL, customer service, reception etc.

The application form can be found here and should be sent to [email protected] once completed.

A DBS check is required. If you do not have a current DBS our Volunteer Coordinator will assist you in applying for one, paid for by Oasis Cardiff. You will then need to sign up to the update service, free of charge for volunteers.

Our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to attend an informal interview. This informal chat is intended to help allocate you to the best volunteering role for you. Oasis Cardiff is a unique and busy place and we are passionate about ensuring that all volunteers find their time enjoyable and fulfilling, as they contribute to the Oasis Cardiff team.

Volunteers are invited to an induction session. This is an opportunity to meet other volunteers and find out more about Oasis Cardiff, as well as cover essential health and safety information.

Volunteers are allocated a buddy and a date is set for a trial session. If all parties are happy after this session then a starting date is agreed.

Volunteers are a valued and essential part of the running of our centre. There is an annual calendar for volunteers that includes, socials, meetings, ongoing training, and an Annual Volunteer Thank You Event.
